Planning

"Plans are nothing, planning is everything" - Dwight D. Eisenhower

You cannot enter into such a massive undertaking as LEJOG without considerable planning. You have to get the right bikes; choose appropriate panniers; get insurance; purchase guide books; get the right maps; choose the route; lay on accommodation; prepare a budget; work out how to get to the start; work out how to get back from the finish; send off cheques; check kit; consult with people who have done it before; purchase any key items and most importantly, work out which places have Eurosport so that you don't miss any coverage of the Tour De France. After completing all this planning, Lorain was knackered.

I supported her all the way in the planning phase by shouting updates to her on what was happening in the Tour de France from the sofa in the living room. Lorain was banished to the kitchen because all of the tapping on her laptop keyboard was interfering with the Eurosport commentary. Every now and again I would insist that she take a break from all the planning in order to make me a coffee. I was exhausted from all the shouting.
